Exercise to Lose Fat
If you happen to believe that you can lose fat fast – by taking a magic pill, for example – you'd better wake up. Losing fat fast is not possible without exercising. While you don't have to run 15 miles a day, some exercise at least two or three times a week is a necessary companion to your diet. Exercise can come in a variety of ways and depending on your age and physical condition, the choice might be unlimited, or you might have to stick to a couple of activities only that are safe for your health. Many people do not count it as exercise, but even not so intense forms of physical activity, like w>alking (a couple of miles, not a few steps only), climbing the stairs or working in the garden are also a form of an exercise and if you are very unfit, you will see that even these activities will make you sweat. There is one very important thing that you must do before you start active exercising. If you have not done it recently (i.e. in the last year or so), have a medical check. Sometimes you might have medical conditions that you are unaware of and these conditions could make it risky for you to perform a particular type of physical activity. You might have hidden heart problems, or bone damages that do not show unless you start actively to exercise, so you always need to consult a doctor before you indulge in serious physical activity. As we already mentioned, exercising can come in a variety of forms. For the elderly, or for people who have never been active, walking a couple of miles a day is a challenging task. You will see that you will get tired pretty soon and you will start to sweat, so even walking can have positive results for you. Biking is also a good way to exercise. If you don't live too far from work or school, you can even bike to there, instead of using your car. In many cities there are special lanes for bikers, so you are not the only one who uses this kind of transportation. Still, biking in big cities is not absolutely safe (because of all the motor vehicles there) and if you have problems with your knees, biking can lead to additional trauma. Exercise is also the way to go if you need to lose fat in particular areas. Even if you diet, you might not be able to lose, for instance belly fat. So in this case, in addition to your diet, you need to make special exercises to help the belly fat go away. There is one more benefit to exercising – you gain muscle. The advantages of having muscles versus body fat are simply uncountable, so even if you keep your weight the same because you have gained muscle, you must be happy. When you are fit enough to move from walking and biking, you can cosider sports activities like jogging, fitness, swimming, skiing, playing football, golf, or tennis, etc. You see, there is enough choice for being active physically. Some of these sports require that you have a partner or a team, which means that you must coordinate your time-schedule with other people but individual activities like jogging, fitness, or swimming can be done at any time you please. If you decide to start a fitness program, the most important issue is that you need to increase its intensity gradually over time. If you go to a fitness center, the instructors there will help you to prepare the program that is best for you and after that it is up to you only to follow it. One thing that applies to all kinds of physical activity is having the right outfit. For walking, comfortable shoes are a must. For other sports, you may need as much as a cotton T-shirt and short pants to start practising. Skiing is a little more expensive because you need special outfit and also there are additional charges that are related to it (for instance traveling charges). Biking obviously needs a bike but since you will save on transportation too, do not consider it as an unnecessary expense.
