Obesity diet

What is Obesity?
Obesity refers to a state when the reserve of natural energy of mammals likes human beings, is stored in the form of fats, is stretched out far ahead of the normal levels. It reaches a position where it can cause a supposed risk to the health. Obesity is rarely found in wild animals, but it can be most commonly found in domestic animals that can be spayed, castrated, under exercised and overfed.

The concept of obesity is being continuously redefined. The current dimension of obesity in humans is the BMI or the “Body Mass Index”. A person who has a BMI of more than 25 kg/m2 is said to be overweight and a person with a BMI of more than 30 kg/m2 is well thought-out to be an obese.

Diet for Obesity
Dietary therapy for obesity involves instructions on how can people adjust their diet to decrease their intake of calories. Reduction of calories reasonably is important for a sluggish but sturdy loss of weight. Strategies for diet therapy for obesity include the instructing about the amount of calories in different foods, composition of food, reading the labels of food and finally how to prepare food.

For most people, it is extremely beneficial to decrease their intake of calories by eating less but eating healthy. Crash diet is not at all necessary as it ultimately only leads to the person becoming weak. One should reduce the intake of fatty foods and the consumption of fruits, bread and vegetables should be given greater importance.

Two major types of diet therapy are diet with low calories (800-1500 kcal/day) or a diet with very low calories (800 kcal/day).

  • It normally consists of a liquid that is enriched with protein.
  • The consumption of energy must be reduced.
  • High calorie foods must be shunned and substituted with more of vegetables, fruits and complex carbohydrates.
  • A reduced intake of fat is also very important for a healthy diet.

An intake of 300-500 calories less than the usual calorie intake per day may help to lose one or even two pounds in a week. Initially, this process may seem to be slow but it would lead to a noticeable weight loss in a year.

Drinking water in place of juice, eating less than needed, and avoiding snacks between two meals all are means to reduce the calorie intake. All these steps will influence the weight loss in an affirmative way.
